Drills and Tips

4 V 2 in a Grid

Offense: Move the ball quickly to brake defense.
Defense: Never be flat. One man attacks the "ball", one man backs up, maintaining a 45 degree angle with his teammate. It is essential that defenders communicate; specifying which player should pressure "BALL" and which should cover "BACK" should be communicated as such, with each player calling out "BALL" or "BACK."

Development

  1. 4v2 to Goal: It is now possible to combine 2v1 and 3v1 movement in the attack. Start with X4 being midfield passer and teammate must pass back to him.
  2. 4v2 to 2 goals: (See Diagram) O3 passes the ball to an X player. As soon as the latter touches the ball, O3 enters play to add pressure, and four X's attack the two O's. After the attack, X3 becomes the server, while X1 drops back in goal, X2 drops in to defend, X4 steps out, and the O team attacks. Continue to rotate positions each iteration.
